The Center for Art Research (CFAR) invites proposals that serve the practices of contemporary artists by engaging speculative Research, Discourse, Exhibition, and/or Publication. Please see CFAR’s Mission for further details.

Proposals can be submitted by artists, writers, curators, and scholars and creatives from any field, whether previously affiliated with CFAR or not. These projects can take a range of forms, be sited in a variety of spaces, and engage the public in myriad ways.

Proposals are reviewed in November and May of each year, and are evaluated based on an individual or group’s ability to accomplish the proposed project, the impact the proposed project will have on the trajectory of their work, and the merits of previous work.

For selected proposals, CFAR can give administrative, logistical, and promotional support for projects. In some cases, CFAR may be able to apportion modest funding or help to pursue alternative funding sources.

See specific call for proposal requirements. To be considered in the next review, submit proposals by November 15, 2020 11:59 p.m. Please email with any questions you may have.
